How do I know which day I can water
Your day is set by the last digit of your street address number — 0–1 Monday, 2–3 Tuesday, 4–5 Wednesday, 6–7 Thursday, 8–9 (and letter-only or common-area addresses) Friday. It is identical in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The tool at the top gives you the answer instantly.
What are the legal watering hours?
Homes under one acre may water during ONE window on their assigned day: 12:01–4:00 a.m. OR 8:00–11:59 p.m. Hand-watering and micro-irrigation of plants and shrubs (not lawns) is allowed any day, but only before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
What happens if I water on the wrong day?
Citations are issued without warning (since April 17, 2026). Fines run up to $500 per violation. Manatee County escalates: $100 for the first, $250 for the second, $500 for the third.
Can my HOA fine me for a brown lawn during restrictions?
No. During an active water shortage order, an HOA may not require increased water use or penalize a dormant or brown lawn (Florida Statute 720.3075 and the SWFWMD order). Keep this in your back pocket if you get a letter.
What's the exempt from the day-of-week rule?
Low-volume hand-watering and micro-irrigation of plants (not lawn sprinklers) before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m., reclaimed water (encouraged to follow the same hours), and new-lawn establishment periods in Manatee County.
